Facility Maintenance

The City of Portage la Prairie is accepting resumes for the position of Facility Maintenance. Under the general supervision of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent performs maintenance duties related to wastewater treatment, water treatment, pumping facilities and building maintenance for municipal facilities.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 plus an Industrial Electrician or Millwright Certificate. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of three years’ experience in a related field, welding experience and a valid Class 3 driver license with air brake endorsement. This position requires employees to be certified in SCBA and confined space.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with 1 hour for lunch. Required to be on standby one weekend a month. Employees on standby duties are required to carry a pager and must be able to report to work within thirty minutes.

The current wage for this position is $43.05 per hour. This is a unionized position and is subject to all terms and conditions of the collective agreement or subsequent amending agreements.
