Plasma Operator

Job Purpose
The successful candidate for Plasma Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plasma table. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting shift production targets. The Operator will cut or trim metal objects with arc-cutting equipment to dimensions, contour, or bevel specified by blueprints, work order, or layout. The Operator will also be responsible for helping maintaining steel inventory.
Major Responsibilities
• Sets up and operate machine
• Utilize blueprints
• Makes adjustments for materials used
• Verifies dimensional requirements
• Transfers materials to storage areas
• Sets up and operates computer numerical controlled (CNC) machinery that automatically cuts metal
• Follows all safety rules and practices
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Material handling manually or using a crane
• Check product for correct specifications
Quality Management System
• Ensure site compliance to all company’s SOPs, labor, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Take prompt corrective action if required.
• Will support the Plant Supervisor and be equally responsible for the quality compliance for all the plasma products. Will also be responsible for the inspection to ensure that the highest compliance is achieved.
Health & Safety
• Will support the Plant Supervisor and be equally responsible for safety compliance on the shopfloor for the people within his leadership.
• Ensure and oversee all HS and JHSC rules and regulations are in force.
• Review and take appropriate action relating to health and safety recommendations and concerns.
Qualifications – Education / Knowledge
• 1+ years of experience as a Plasma Operator with references
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings accurately and load files into the machine and computer
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Able to work well under pressure and strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Email Communication).
• Knowledge of Hand, Air and Measuring tools.
• Knowledge of industry standard machinery and equipment used in a truck shop environment
