Obstetrics/Gynecology Nurse (LPN) - Part time

Hours: 8:30 – 4:30 pm, 3 days per week (currently Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday)

As part of the professional team, the OBGYN Nurse plays an essential role in providing quality patient and family centered care in an accurate, efficient, and friendly manner. This position will work closely with our existing team of 4 OBGYNs and 2-3 administrative assistants in a variety of tasks:
Gynecology:
• pre-operative history and vitals
• explaining instructions and investigations for infertility
• Communication with patients via phone or in-person for abnormal results and follow up
• Communication with patient regarding post-operative concerns
• Small procedures such as removing staples, foley catheters
• Day to day bedside support such as labelling specimens, assisting in exams, chaperoning, creating and sending requisitions
Obstetrics:
• education, handouts
• weight, height, clinic support (checking BPs, fetal heart rate, symphysis fundal height)
• ordering investigations
• updating the MB prenatal record
• obtaining the prenatal record from home clinic, or initiating the prenatal form for a new patient
• liaising with labour floor inductions, scheduling external cephalic version or caesarean sections
• liaising with fetal assessment Winnipeg and Winnipeg clinics to ensure appointments are made and patient is aware and has instructions.
Both:
• disclosing and explaining normal results
• answering patient's questions and concerns via phone
• triaging referrals and ordering the appropriate investigations ahead of the consult
• Working as a navigator to ensure patient feels confident throughout process.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
• Graduate of an approved LPN Nursing education program required. Current Manitoba Nursing license.

• Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients.
• Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
• Ability to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that supports quality services, quality improvement and staff empowerment
• Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Office 365
• Experience with Electronic Health Records software preferred
