Recreation Worker

JOB TITLE: Recreation Worker, Part-time, 1 Year term with possibility of renewal
POST: Dakota Wicozani Tipi Health Centre
SALARY: Salary & hours to be determined based on experience and availability

Job Description:
The Recreation Worker is part of the Dakota Wicozani Tipi Health Centre Team and will provide culturally appropriate awareness and support to Elders in the community. The goal of this program is to provide Elders with opportunities for organized recreational opportunities. The Recreational Worker will organize games, outings, and facilitate group activities and workshops.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a recognized Therapeutic Recreation/Activity Programming certificate an asset.
- Current Safe Food Handler Training Certificate or willing to obtain in 6 months.
- Experience working with Elders.
- CPR and First Aid Certification required or willing to become certified within 3 months of employment.
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Ability to develop partnerships with communities and organizations
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- Knowledge of First Nations culture
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Current Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check must available upon request of successful candidate.

Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes and implements activity & recreational programs for clients based on client interests and needs.
- Completes appropriate records/documentation as required.
- Completes mandatory D.W.T. training requirements.
